Bolesław The Brave, the first King of Poland

17.04.2025

Our latest online meeting was dedicated to one of the most important moments in Polish history – the coronation of the first King of Poland, Bolesław the Brave (Bolesław Chrobry).

This name is forever inscribed in the history of Poland. Bolesław the Brave was not just a ruler, but a true architect of Polish statehood. He was able to unite disparate lands, strengthen his power and show Europe that Poland was a strong and independent state. His coronation in 1025 became not only a political event, but also a symbol of the maturity of the Polish people, the beginning of a new era, when Poland took its rightful place among the European countries.

During the meeting, Professor Wiesław Lach spoke about how King Bolesław laid the foundations of Polish statehood, strengthened relation with Rome, and developed the army and diplomatic relations. Participants learned many interesting facts about the life of that time, about the Piast dynasty, and how the idea of Polish unity was formed.

This was not just a lecture, but a real journey through time, to the era when the Polish crown was born.

According to participants, the meeting left a feeling of pride in Poland's great past and gratitude to those who stood at the origins of its statehood.
